Custom Thermal Plate Design
Western DataCom custom designs thermal plates for installation into the Cisco Rugged Enclosure as well as other chassis installations. Thermal plates are designed using 3D models of the printed circuit board using Solidworks CAD software. Boards are either imported or directly created from physical samples and the Thermal plates are modeled based on these drawings.
Thermal plates are machined out of 6061 aluminum and coated with irridite to protect from corrosion. In addition custom thermal pads are created to join the heat dissapating component to the thermal plate to provide the path for passive conduction.
Currently Western DataCom offers standard thermal plates for the following PC/104 cards:
MAPC-104 (formerly manufactured by Datel), the current solution is now manufactured by Murata Power Solutions under the same part number. Both are the Cisco approved power supply for the 3200 as well as the new 5915 Mobile Access Routers.

Western DataCom offers a plate set kit that includes the thermal plate (top & bottom), installation hardware and thermal pads or a complete bundle that includes the MAPC-104 power card with the thermal plates installed.
Western DataCom also offers full design services for customers that would like to incorporate their PC/104 cards into the Mobile Router Market space. Designs can be completed in as little as 4-weeks with a small setup fee*. For additional information please contact Western DataCom
